applications that require Steam service valve operation.
Steam Valves Certifications
• Fire safe design according to ISO 10497 and API 607.
• Fugitive emissions tested according to ISO 15848-1 and API641.
Steam
Steam is vastly used in many industrial applications.
In process industry, water is heated and steam is generated at boilers, the steam is transferred
through pipes and used to heat process. During the process steam condenses back to water
releasing latent heat of vaporization back to the process.
Condensed water is collected and sent to boiler again for further production of steam.
The four steam types
Saturated Steam
Saturated steam is the most common type, it is steam at its boiling point, under atmospheric
pressure, it would be 100°C (212°F).
As the pressure of the steam goes up, so does its corresponding boiling point temperature.
Superheated Steam
Superheated steam is steam that is hotter than its boiling point for a given pressure. Superheated
steam at atmospheric pressure would be hotter than 100°C (212°F).
Dry Steam
Dry steam has no liquid content in it and is entirely in the vapor state.
Superheated steam is always dry because any liquid would be immediately vaporized into
steam. Saturated steam would usually require water traps to ensure steam is dry enough when
reaching its use point.
Wet Steam
Wet steam (or unsaturated steam) is simply the opposite of dry steam and is in both liquid
and vapor state.
Design
Habonim steam Service valves are available in a variety of connections – threaded, welded,
and flanged. Sizes range between ¼” to 8”.
Valve’s body available in wide range of materials with 316 stainless steel and carbon steel being
the standard offering, 316 stainless steel is standard for ball and stem. TFM and CF PTFE and
graphite are standard materials for seats and seals.
Steam service valves will be equipped with red handle sleeve by default.
